Child Labour: Problematic

Child labour remains a significant issue worldwide, despite legal prohibitions. Many children work in hazardous conditions across various sectors, such as agriculture, brick kilns, and auto repair establishments. Despite actions against offenders, public doubt remains over the effectiveness of the government’s handling of this issue, attributed to inadequate resources, limited financial allocation, and deficient management. Pakistan ranks third in global child labour counts and has experienced a fourfold increase over two decades. Experts advocate for comprehensive investigations into child labour, increased collaboration among governmental offices, police competencies enhancement, development of specialist law enforcement units, and implementation of public awareness programs to address this problem more effectively.
